Aberdeen has granted itself some leeway in reopening restaurants to the public. Earlier this year, the COVID-19 pandemic forced Hub City restaurants to close their dining rooms to the public to help control the spread of the virus in compliance with a new city ordinance in April. This caused many restaurant owners to come up with clever alternative solutions to make up for their lack of normal revenue. However, not all restaurants in Aberdeen made it through the closure period, and have closed permanently. The five restaurants that closed their doors permanently include: Palm Garden, The Brass Kettle, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Twin Dragon, and Jersey’s Sports Bar & Grill. It should also be noted that several of these restaurants already had financial trouble before the city ordinance went into effect. Their closures just happen to coincide with and were agitated by the current situation.
